Creating The Right Work Environment for Teams

Saturday Sales Tip

The right environment for teams breads top salespeople that are positive, powerful, problem solvers that are results driven. These are the type of salespeople any team leader would want on their team. Unfortunately top talent can also be frustrating to manage. They also leave team leaders and management wanting more as the sky is the limit for the potential and results. Top salespeople can also be difficult to retain as often times they reach a level of personal success that they feel can translate to their own business venture.

Team leaders need to provide and environment and culture where top salespeople can both thrive and remain for a long period of time.

Below are a few thoughts on how to provide a positive environment for top salespeople.

Avoid Making Rules

Successful salespeople do not want limitations; they want freedom. They want to have few obstacles and use their way of selling. Do not try to hold them back. Let them produce results!

Coach and Provide Mentorship

Do not tell your top sellers what to do. Ask them to empathize with you and see how they can improve the situation. Come up with a solution together.

Lead By Example

As a team leader, you need to motivate and lead your team. To do this, you need to know what is important to them. If you have a salesperson that is exceptional in one area, let them focus on that and see if there is someone else who is willing to support them in other areas.

Acknowledge Accomplishments

Every successful sale requires acknowledgement, while some require the utmost praise. Salespeople are results driven, and sales will encourage them to make more of them. To keep your salespeople motivated acknowledge the success and praise their efforts when they need it.
