4 Thoughts on Real Estate Team Success

Saturday Sales Tip

Real estate is a team game. Even if you’re a single agent you almost have to work with buyers and sellers as if they were your teammates; guiding them along the sales process and assisting them as they make one of the biggest decisions in their lives.

If you’re a REALTOR® working with other agents then real estate is even more of a team game, and the pressure of being in a leadership role can often times frustrate the leader and supporting agents. Below are a few thoughts on leadership in sales that will improve the culture and success in your real estate team.

Lead With Reason

Salespeople will sell more if they understand the ‘why’ behind a certain strategy or goal. Telling your team to simply “sell more” doesn’t motivate or encourage them to commit themselves to the sales process because they don’t understand why certain things should be carried out in a specific way. Communicate your reasoning and make sure your team understands.

Accountability Is Key

Holding your team accountable doesn’t mean you have to rule with an iron fist. What it does mean is making sure your team doesn’t develop any bad habits that could hurt their development and the companies. Make sure you continue to follow up and communicate with your team after instructions are given.

Strategize

It would be nice if all you had to say was “go out and sell” and your team came back with sale after sale, but the reality is the market changes, the industry changes, and your clients change. This is why you need to be aware of what is going on around you so that you can put together a strategy that adjusts to these changes.

Embrace Change

With all these changes happening around us it is important that, as a leader, you embrace change. Whether it’s technology, personnel, the market, etc. you must embrace change if you are going to remain successful.
