Today’s market is challenging, and younger agents often find themselves competing with top agents who have years more experience than they do.
However, these millennial real estate agents are finding creative ways to find success and position themselves to be the top-producing real estate agents of tomorrow. Here are just a few ways that young real estate agents are finding success:
They Opt for Training and Mentoring
A 2016 Deloitte Study on Millennials showed that young workers who are well-trained and have a good mentor are more likely to stay at a position. This can be said for real estate as well. When a top agent mentors a younger agent, they will gain considerable skills and experience to succeed in their own careers.
This generation appreciates being provided the tools and training, as well as the trust and encouragement to try new things, experiment, and learn from mistakes.
Job Satisfaction Over Money Motivates Many Millennials
Although everyone dreams of that six-figure income and record-GCIs, many millennials start out looking for work that is mentally stimulating and fulfilling. This is why many people in the younger generations are opting for jobs that require an entrepreneurial spirit – it’s more satisfying.
They Start Young
If you listen to the success stories of many top real estate agents today, you will notice that many of them started in real estate later on in their careers. While there is a wealth of benefits for starting as an agent later in life, you are more secure; you have more experience, maturity, etc., many of today’s agents are starting as young as 18 or 19. This means they will gain considerable experience early on in their lives and develop the tools and strategies to succeed at a young age.
They are Tech-Savvy
Everyone knows that millennials are tech savvy. You can always expect a young agent to be at the forefront of digital trends, whether it’s developing a digital marketing strategy or using technology to capture and convert leads.
Millennials are Expert Communicators
Millennials also grew up in a world that was always connected, which makes them expert communicators with an incredible sense of urgency.
In today’s instant messaging world, Millennials understand the importance of fast reaction time, quick communication, and easy answers to client questions. They respect the urgency because they never really had to wait several business days for contracts to be sent through the mail.
They Crave Company Culture and Flexibility
In addition to wanting to feel trusted and appreciated; perks like working from home and traveling for work, are a few features that millennials enjoy. Millennials also appreciate a strong team culture, which is prevalent in many top-producing real estate companies.
Working with like-minded individuals toward a common goal – like that record-breaking GCI – is something that a young real estate agent will find exciting and interesting.
