Customer Relationship Tips for Real Estate Agents
A client’s trust and confidence in you as an agent is critical to the success of your real estate business. Without it, you will not generate the referrals or the return business you had hoped for and your business will suffer. Not just that, but if you cannot demonstrate your worth during the sales process — you may not even get the sale! You can see why gaining your customer’s trust is so important.
Below are a few tips on how to gain your client’s trust and improve your chances of a smooth sale.
Be Respectful At All Times
A mutual level of respect between the agent and client is important for future sales, and personal and professional growth. Not just with the client, but with your competitors too. Let’s be honest, there are a lot of agents out there that you will come into contact with and it’s important to have a respectful relationship.
Don’t Make Promises You Can’t Keep
Nothing hurts an agent’s reputation more than not delivering on a promise. If you know you can provide what the client is asking for then don’t say you can. Word of mouth travels quickly in this business and failing to deliver is something people will remember.
Don’t Sell Something The Client Doesn’t Need
Selling a client something they don’t need is simply bad business. If it’s at no cost to them — sure, go right ahead. But they are paying you for your expert opinions, advice and the finished product.
Don’t Withhold Bad News
You need to be honest with your client at all times — especially when there is bad news. Don’t try to hide it from them. Just be open and up front about the issue. If it’s at your fault, take full responsibility — but disclose any important information as soon as you receive it.
Your Deal Doesn’t End When The Sale Is Complete
Just because the papers are signed and the client received what they wanted doesn’t mean the deal is finished. It is your responsibility to ensure the client is taken care of and their needs are met. That’s why it’s important to follow up and see if there are any after-sale services you can provide.
